Career Center at ASHG Central
In Houston, the Career Center will be located in the Exhibit & Poster Hall at ASHG Central and will be open during exhibit hours (Wednesday, October 17 and Thursday, October 18 from 10 am – 4:30 pm, and Friday, October 19 from 10:00 am – 3:30 pm). Stop by to receive a list of exhibitors who are hiring, information about career services that ASHG offers, or just to say hi.
The meeting program includes several career development events and workshops for trainees and early-career scientists that are available now.
As you’re walking through the Exhibit & Poster Hall, look for exhibitors wearing the “Industry Scientist” ribbon. Anyone wearing the ribbon can ‘talk science’ with you, wants to hear about your work, and tell you about what they have to offer.
Attend the First-Ever Career Fair
Held in the Exhibit and Poster Hall Wednesday through Friday at 1:15 – 3:15 pm, the Career Fair will connect attendees at all experience levels who are seeking jobs with exhibitors that are actively hiring. Meet and Collaborate with Other Undergraduate Educators
The Undergraduate Faculty Genetics Education Workshop, taking place Tuesday, October 15, covers human genetics content and pedagogies for faculty, teaching assistants, and those interested in teaching. The goal is to encourage effective teaching of human genetics and to improve the genetic literacy of students enrolled in genetics and genetics-heavy biology classes. This year’s theme is Environmental Influence on Genetic Risk.
