FAQs

When will decisions about Resource-Limited Country Travel Awardees be announced?

Decisions will be announced in mid-July. Please see the dates & deadlines page for additional deadlines.

When should I apply for a visa?

Due to long visa appointment wait times, we encourage authors to apply for visas upon submission of abstract.

By submitting an abstract, am I guaranteed the Resource-Limited Country Travel Award?

Unfortunately, ASHG has limited funding for these awards. As a non-profit, the Society is thankful to be able to provide funding to some abstract authors, but so many applicants with abstracts of scientific merit make it a very challenging decision for the Program Committee. We hope that you can still attend the ASHG 2024 Annual Meeting.

When should I book my hotel reservation?

ASHG has set aside rooms at the lowest rates for awardees. Awardees will receive further information on booking these rooms in their award notifications (rooms must be booked within a specified time period).

Am I eligible to apply again for the Resource-Limited Country Travel Award if I won last year?

You are eligible to apply, however, priority is given to those applicants who have not received a Resource-Limited Country Travel Award in the previous year.

If I do not receive the Resource-Limited Country Travel Award, can I still receive the Award for Trainee Research Excellence?

If you are eligible and applied for both awards during the abstract submission process, you will be considered for each award separately. The Resource-Limited Country Travel Award recipients will be notified in mid-July, and the Trainee Excellence Award recipients will be notified in mid-August.

When will awardees be listed?

A listing of this year’s recipients will be available in September.
